The Dish- Parkes

The CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope, star of 'The Dish' movie, is a must-see landmark in inland NSW. The giant dish stands impressively in sheep paddocks, 20km north of Parkes. Just a short 5km detour off the Newell Highway, you can marvel at the 64-meter steel paraboloid atop a three-story tower. The Visitor Discovery Centre nearby explores astronomy and The Dish's role in 'listening to the stars'.
